The Atlantic Centre, the National Defence Institute and the Luso-American Development Foundation have partnered to create the FLAD Atlantic Security Awards, which aim to promote research on security and defence issues in the Atlantic.

The first edition of this award will distinguish two proposals of high scientific merit, with applications from PhD researchers of all nationalities open until October 20, 2021, through the FLAD website: https://flad.secure.force.com/CandidaturaMain?language=pt_PT

The research projects will receive funding of €20,000 each and will be developed between March and December 2022. The winners will be announced in January 2022. Preference will be given to Portuguese applicants for one of the awards.

The jury for this award is composed by Licínia Simão, Professor in International Relations at the University of Coimbra and Coordinator of the Atlantic Centre, Ana Santos Pinto, Professor at NOVA University and member of FLAD’s Board of Trustees, and Pedro Seabra, researcher and advisor at the National Defence Institute.
